You can also think of the Eclectic approach as ‘a la carte’ homeschooling. Parents will browse through catalogs or vendor halls at conferences and select the best curriculum for their family for each subject.
New homeschoolers will often start here until they learn enough to choose an approach that works best for their family. Consider, however, that it can be time consuming to integrate resources, each with their own strategies and philosophies, into a coherent program of study. Then again, the beauty of homeschooling is that, even if you choose a packaged curriculum that covers most subjects well, there is nothing to prevent you replacing one or two subjects with supplemental resources that you think do a better job of covering those areas.
